Come and Learn English at Hazeldene. It is a large Victorian property in a picturesque village set in the heart of beautiful Kent countryside.

In this area there are many places of historic and cultural interest, also abundant wildlife areas. Canterbury is about 40 mins away by car and the same by train. We are surrounded by many castles, houses of special interest - Charles Dickens' house at Rochester, Charles Darwin's at Downe - and many others. The local train station is 10 mins away by car and then in 45 mins you are in central London. South Coast seaside resorts such as Hastings and Brighton are within 1 hrs drive.

Practically every sporting activity can be indulged in locally. From golf, tennis, swimming and horse riding, all at a modest cost.

What we try to do is tailor activities to suit each student, for example one young man was interested in studying Law so we arranged for him to visit the Law Courts in London including the Old Bailey where he spent the day watching actual cases being heard. Another was interested in Finance and Banking so he visited various Finance Institutions in the City of London. Creative activities such as photography, including making prints in the darkroom, drawing and painting are available.

We have been running courses since 1987 and our qualified teachers aim to encourage and enable students to express themselves as a person and not just to mimic text book phrases and language. We try to do this creatively always respecting the student's individuality taking into consideration their level after preliminary assessment. This approach is more suited to groups of 2,3 or 4 people although we also provide for individuals.

Students participate in family life, lessons are normally conducted each morning which leaves the afternoons free for leisure and cultural activities.

We cater for all levels and prepare students from 13 yrs onwards for various certificates when required, in particular Cambridge First Certificate. We also have a programme for Business English and for students 16 yrs and above who are preparing for their National School Examinations. The teaching programme covers all aspects of the language. Speaking, reading and listening, vocabulary, spelling and pronunciation in an interactive manner.

Costs are as follows: �485 per week which includes 15 hrs tuition, full board and transport from and to London Gatwick airport. There is a supplement for collection from any other airport. Fees are payable in advance in Pounds Sterling. It is preferable to book as early as possible. We ask for a Non-Refundable deposit of �100 at the time of booking. Opening dates are from May to October.
